Bank Of America Credit Card

Hey Duane here with how to build credit TV. Once again my name is Duane with how to build credit TV and on this channel we talk about everything you need to know about credit. If this sounds like something which you’re interested be sure to subscribe to our channel by clicking the word subscribe below this video to the right and click the notification bell so you don’t miss a thing. Okay so Bank of America actually has quite a bit of credit cards that are pretty decent. So the one that I’m applying for in this video is the Bank of America cash rewards credit card. This particular credit card actually has a sweet sign of bonus of two hundred dollars after you spend five hundred dollars within the first three months. You’re also able to get back 3% on gas 2% on groceries and wholesale clubs and 1% on everything else. So this is a pretty cool card and that’s why I applied for this card. So stay with me I’m gonna jump on my laptop and show you the application process for the Bank of America cash rewards credit card. Okay so as you can see we’re at the bank of America website to have a look at the bank of America credit card. Actually the Bank of America cash rewards cards that’s a card I’m gonna apply for this is the fifth credit card I’ve applied for in the last couple of days. Today’s date is August the 30th today is Thursday so I’m gonna go ahead and apply for this card quickly here. There’s a really awesome signup bonus that this card has, it has $200 cash back after you spend five hundred dollars. So I am really interested in that and the fact that they have a three percent on gas and there is also 2% on groceries and 1% on all your other purchases. So this is probably gonna be the last credit card that I’m gonna apply for in a while so bare with me as I fill out this application here. So I’m gonna go ahead and get started on this application. So the last couple of days I’ve filled out several applications for credit cards. I did, initially I did the American Express blue cash everyday card that was a very first one that I did. I think I did that last Friday. Then after that one I did the Discover card. I wanted basically to get a Discover card because I have the discover it secured card and they were giving me a really hard time about upgrading my card so I went ahead and got a credit card from them. And I got approved for that one the credit limit on that card was $5,000 and the credit limit on the American Express card was $7,000. I was really excited about reestablishing a relationship with American Express it had been a long time since I was able to have a credit card with American Express. Actually I probably could have gotten a card sooner but I just wasn’t my credit score wasn’t good enough and I wasn’t in a position to really try to get a card so I just didn’t worry about it. So anyway I’m gonna go ahead and like I said fill this information out here right in front of you guys and I’m going to try to go as quickly as I can as I talk to you guys at the same time. So hopefully there aren’t a lot of pages to this particular application that would make it a lot easier. So after I applied for the Discover card, I applied then for the u.s. bank visa signature card. And then after that one I applied for the Citibank double cash card. So those are the cards that I applied for and this is going to be the last one that I’m gonna apply for in a long time. Probably at least a year and a half to possibly two years. So the reason why I’m not applying for other cards is because I am not really going to be traveling soon so that’s why I didn’t you know apply for different travel cards. I know people are wondering well aren’t you applying for travel cards so I’m not gonna be doing a lot of traveling really soon so therefore I’m not really interested in doing that at this moment. So that would explain that. I’m having a hard time with this application on this page here. Thank you for being patient with me. Alright let’s see if it works this time. So this page is loading eventually here. They’re asking me to review my information of course this will all be blocked out you guys you won’t get to see any of this wonderful stuff here. And I’m going to submit all right reviewing information this may take a few moments to complete. So I am I’m pretty sure that I should get approved of this card. I did fill out the pre-qualification to see if I had qualified to get a particular card from Bank of America and I’m excited about getting it back for America credit card because you know Bank of America is a pretty big Bank. It’s definitely one of the top three banks so I’m really excited about that. Okay I’m not quite sure why I got this particular page, but they basically are saying that my application is in review. Which kind of ruined this video but I’ll keep you guys posted and let you know what the outcome is to this particular application. Okay so as you can see I wasn’t able to finish the application process on the computer. What ended up happening was Bank of America actually had to send me an email letting me know more details about my application. So I’ll put the email on the screen right now so that you can see that I was approved for this particular card and my credit limit is $4,500. So when I applied for this card this was the fifth card that I had applied for within about a week. So I did two cards on one day I think I did the American Express and Discover card on one day. And then I waited like two days and then I did the Citibank double cash card and then the US bank cash plus something like that and then I did this video the Bank of America cash rewards credit card. So I was kind of kicking myself and I was like man I should have just applied for all five cards in the same day so then when they pull my credit report it doesn’t look like hey I applied for two cards here and then I applied for another two cards here and then why am I applying for yet another card. So I wasn’t sure if that’s why they had to review my account more because of that. But in the future I’m definitely going to apply for all my credit cards on the same day so that all of it kind of hits my credit report at the same time and it doesn’t look suspicious like why is this guy getting more credit like what’s the point okay. So anyway thank you so much for watching this video. If you liked the video please be sure to give it a thumbs up it helps our channel quite a bit. 1. I have this card as well. Saved (or made) a lot of money with is card. BoA Cash Rewards also has a 10% redemption rate when you put your cash rewards into a BoA account. BoA is also one of the few banks that hard pulls on a credit limit increase. Learned that the hard way. My card is Visa Signature, so I have those benefits as well. Maybe you could make a video saying how you are going to utilize ALL those new cards. As a credit nerd, it’s fun seeing you on your credit journey. You are definitely a pro!

  2. Duane congratulations and thanks for sharing. Since you are gardening so to speak what can we expect next? I have followed your suggestion for the Discover card and they are working.

  3. duane it's difficult to get a unsecured credit card in Amex if you have a 3 year old 1 collection account? my experian 640, my transU 602, my equifax 612. Should I wait until 700 or I will apply today?

  4. Have the card it isn’t that great honestly. Just a simple 3 2 1 card sign up bonus is prolly the main reason to get it. Keep in mind most big banks are very scammy.

  5. doesn't that drop your average age very low? I did the Amex Everyday in July, then at the end of August, I did the Uber. It's funny how the Uber card was reported on my credit a few days after I got approved, and my average age dropped about three months. Yet the Amex is two months old still haven't been reported

  6. From my experience a hard inquiry now post to your credit report instantly. So even if you had applied for all the cards in one day the previous hard inquiries would have still been visible to the creditors. Of course if the cards pull from different credit bureaus it wouldn't matter.

  7. Hi you mentioned being excited to be reestablishing your affiliation with AMEX. Could you please elaborate on what you mean? Did AMEX blacklist you at some point and if so how long before they (AMEX) remove you from their blacklist? Or did you pay off an old closed account to be reconsidered for membership again? Thanks for the information and keep up the great work

  8. Yea I hear Bank of America is inquiry sensitive … my sister has that card, 780 score and she didn’t get instant approval, plus she applied for the card the same day as another card

  9. Hey Duane,

I’d like to apply for multiple cards at once but before applying what is the minimum score I should have prior to applying for multiple cards as I know each hit per card could have a negative impact on my credit score

  10. How long did the application process take for approval?? It’s been about 10 days I applied for the Bank of America travel card for students. Idk if it’s taking longer because I already have the Bank of America cash rewards/savings/checking account with them??
